Day 99 – Over Trøndelags høyfjell (Over the high mountains of Trøndelag)

Våknet opp i en varm hytte grunnet elektrisk varme i hytta, ingen behov for å stå opp å fyre i peisen for å holde varmen her nei.

English translation: Woke up in a warm cabin due to electric heating in the cabin, no need to get up to light the fire to keep warm here. Very happy to be in the cabin last night when it rained terribly. When we had to go out to use the toilet, we were wet after just a few steps. We got a late start, waiting until the worst of the rain was over.
For breakfast there were lots of pancakes, YUM! As we had used up the butter we got from our cabin next door the night before, there were many packets of butter, as this is only in 10g packets, to get everything fried. A total of 20 packages. Is this what everyone who buys pancakes at these huts does?
Chatted with a local acquaintance, a cabin guard who came to inspect the cabin when we were about to leave. He said there was going to be less marsh where we were going, when we were going up on the high mountain. Because clearly 550 meter peaks, I would call a bog after a small hill, qualify as high mountains here in Trøndelag. It is clear that the people of Trøndelag like all the peaks they have, all the small peaks and places here in Trøndelag are stamped with how many meters above sea level they are. Didn’t see as much of it in the past as we have in this flatter landscape.
It is clear that it has rained a lot as the rivers flow over the road and the rivers on the path are high. Met a poor hiker who had tried to sleep in a tent last night. He hadn’t had a good night because of all the rain. He was a positive soul who had now walked for 6 weeks and was halfway through his trip. In several places we had to take off our shoes and wade across the river. At one point, Liz refused to wade and instead spent some time building her own bridge over the river. Creatively.
On the mountain, we found a large rock with a name of its own, between marshes and meadows. We did not understand why it had been given its own name, sign and was marked with altitude meters above sea level. What was so special? It wasn’t the view and it wasn’t the top… Even though this was after a whole day’s work, and this was the only rock we had seen, then it’s clear that it has to get a name. Here it’s just bog and swamp.
It was a cold and rainy day, but also steady, so all in all a good day. To our great surprise, we came across a great cabin with chairs and a table, where we could enjoy a good lunch under cover. Immediately after this, clops (planks to walk on over the marsh) were suddenly laid for about a kilometre. We don’t understand why as everywhere else had the same amount of bog, but really appreciated a little break from the bog. A little later we set up the tent, with bog on all sides.
